| Rudy Giuliani's Vulnerabilities
Rudy Giuliani's Vulnerabilities Secret study cited "weirdness factor" among candidate weaknesses FEBRUARY 12--As he campaigns for the Republican presidential nomination, Rudolph Giuliani will have to contend with political and personal baggage unknown to prospective supporters whose knowledge of the former New York mayor is limited to his post-September 11 exploits. So, in a bid to educate the electorate, we're offering excerpts from a remarkable "vulnerability study" that was commissioned by Giuliani's campaign prior to his successful 1993 City Hall run. The confidential 450-page report, authored by Giuliani's research director and another aide, was the campaign's attempt to identify possible lines of attack against Giuliani and prepare the candidate and his staff to counter "the kinds of no-holes-barred assault" expected in a general election rematch with Democratic incumbent David Dinkins.
Fresh, hot Nutts
Sorry. I had a dinner to cook. Clothes to wash. Garbage to haul. Etc. But, yes, Houston Nutt did quit. Here's the UA version. My man said Reggie Herring would be coaching at the bowl. That was addressed. I'm curious as to the question of paying off all those contracts extended during the reign of Broyles-Nutt. Including for the Nutt Bro. Here's the bottom line: The UA Board of Trustees said it was time to heal this wound. Or wound this texting heel, as your choice may be. I think it's true that Chancellor White wanted to keep him. White probably wanted his own job more. Say it again: the coach's wife didn't help her husband's situation by pitching in on the condemnation of a freshman quarterback and, according to the record that's been published, wishing mayhem on the young man's mom,.
Xbox Live account takeovers put users at risk
Hackers have hijacked the Xbox Live account of a celebrity gamer and made off with a prized piece of virtual armor in a brazen act that suggests the online Microsoft service still puts the security of its users at risk. Colin Fogle gained widespread acclaim in gaming circles after posting a video showing how it was possible for a Halo 3 player to shoot and kill himself with his own sniper rifle. Bungie Studios, maker of the wildly popular first-person shooter title, was so impressed it awarded him a special piece of in-game Recon armor and publicly acknowledged the feat. .
High price of festive blaze
It really was a most ferocious fire and when I saw what it had done I must say I was shocked. We should be proud of what our officers achieved. I am aiming to rebuild it within 12 months, it is very tight but the tenants' insurance cover only protects them for one year so it will have to be done." .
Scott Venci column: Recruiting road can be long, daunting
They hopped in the car on a Saturday morning in November and drove 370 miles to Mankato, Minn., complete with a GPS system to make sure they didn't get lost. They attended a Minnesota State University, Mankato football game, met the coaching staff afterward and drove 370 miles back home. That was a typical weekend last month for Bay Port senior running back Josh Zank, his father, Rich, and Travis Frisque, the defensive coordinator for the freshman team at Bay Port. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Zank is like several high school athletes going through the recruitment process, dreaming for the chance to play at the next level. Each story is different, but for those going through it for the first time, the uncertainty often is the same. For those who know Josh best, stress and excitement would be the best way to describe what he's going through.
Bronchos defeat San Jon
Midway through a stagnant first quarter of an EPAC boys tournament game, Grady coach Jim Kneipp felt he had to do something to shake up the tempo. But going to a full-court pressure defense was pretty risky business for Kneipp’s Bronchos on Thursday. "Especially when you have only six kids," said Kneipp, who actually had seven suited out for the contest. "We had one kid whose stepfather died, we had another kid who was out with the flu. We were down in numbers, but I didn’t feel like we could sit back and wait." The strategy paid off as Grady went on to a 56-36 victory over winless San Jon in the consolation bracket of the tourney. Behind 6-4 with three minutes left in the opening period, the Bronchos (6-7) turned on the press and rattled off 14 straight points. The streak began when Grady senior Brian Blackburn put back in a teammate’s missed shot and ended when Blackburn connected on a field goal with 6:15 left in the second quarter.
