| What's wrong with our town?
The central business district has become the first battleground where decency is making a stand in trying to reclaim the streets. But it is also obvious that while the focus is on the politely named "anti-social behaviour" in the city, the same ugliness has been defiling the public transport system. Figures released under Freedom of Information by the State Opposition yesterday show that over a six-month period, an average of two nasty incidents were reported on the train system each day. These included assaults, robberies, the use of knives and guns, and racially based brawls. There were also many cases of drunkenness, drug abuse and loutish behaviour, such as urinating on platforms and abusing innocent passengers. Why would anybody catch a train? Imagine being caught up in this.

MITCH ALBOM: Their Rich Rodriguez mess could one day be ours
Let's be honest. If Lloyd Carr, early in his career as Michigan head coach, had bolted for another school and a richer contract -- as Rich Rodriguez did -- if he initially lied about a meeting with that school, if he abruptly left the Wolverines before a bowl, if he informed Michigan of his departure through a graduate assistant, if he informed a prep quarterback prospect before he told his U-M boss, if he shredded files in Ann Arbor, if he took most of the U-M staff with him, and if he owed Michigan a $4-million buyout and had his lawyers working on ways not to pay it -- you can bet we'd be angry. .
BNP leader blasts 'cynical' councillor
AS the leader of the British National Party in Thurrock I feel compelled to write in to complain about the way that Thurrock politicians are masquerading behind third party organisations that they helped to create. Yash Gupta helped win a £280,000 grant from the Home Office to set up and establish the racist Thurrock Racial Unity Support Taskgroup which caters exclusively for anyone from an ethnic minority background. He was also influential in obtaining a £750,000 donation for TRUST from all of Thurrock's taxpayers despite the fact that the money was not going to be used for the benefit of all. .

Yes. I have no qualms about such products.
In her last game against Montgomery, Ward scored eight points in the second quarter to open the game up en route to a 55-38 victory. The Lady Bears had much trouble trying to stay in front of Ward and prevent her from penetrating to the basket. While the Montgomery game was nice, according to her it wasn't her personal best."The game against Huntsville was may favorite," Ward said. "I scored 11 points, but I got a lot of steals"Head coach Arthur Daviss describes Ward as a tremendous competitor."She has great, great talent," Daviss said. "She's done a great job of learning our offense. We run a motion offense, which is very difficult to teach and difficult to learn, but she's very athletic and she's doing good."Being athletic comes genetically for Ward, as she has four older siblings that are athletes, in sisters Leslie and Noel, and brothers Lester and Marquise Moore.
